Rural Organizing has developed strategic plans to thwart facilities in designated counties, as well as preparedness strategies for counties not yet targeted.

We’re streaming Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment, an uplifting evening of music, community, and action. Hosted by the Committee for the First Amendment (CFA), this special livestream event features an all-star lineup including Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Bette Midler, Rufus Wainwright, Joy Reid, Wilson Cruz, Broadway Inspirational Voices, and more.

Saturday, June 13th: we will 'Occupy the Lot' at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center - the largest ICE detention center in the northeast.
We are pushing the Clearfield County Commissioners NOT TO RENEW their upcoming contract with Geo Group, which runs the facility. MVPC has already been sued by the ACLU and others for significant human rights violations.
Those inside have reported a lack of access to medical care, a lack of appropriate nutrition and resources, overcrowding, and significant neglect.
We are partnering with groups across the state to make our demands clear: MVPC must not be allowed to continue its operations. "Occupy the Lot" is part of a statewide campaign in coordination with the Shut Down Detention Campaign and those working to support individuals held inside and their families. The "Lot" is a small public space very close to, but not directly at, the Moshannon facility. The goal is to maintain the visibility of the well-hidden facility and remind passersby (and the County Commissioners who will vote on their contract with GEO Group in September) that people are watching and that we are not going away.
We plan and expect a peaceful protest in a roadside lot. It is a long drive and a three-hour protest, so we encourage people to bring food, plenty of water, and chairs. We will have singing, music, chanting, a few prayers, and a reading of the names of those killed in ICE detention or by ICE action.
